4-Day Okavango Delta & Moremi Mobile Safari Experience

Day 1: Arrival and sunset mokoro ride on the Boteti River

Your Botswana expedition begins at Maun Airport, where you will be met by your professional ranger and guide. A short twenty-minute transfer brings you to the peaceful Boteti Tented Safari Lodge. After checking into your luxury elevated tent, which features a private veranda and en-suite facilities, you can enjoy a refreshing welcome drink while soaking in the sights of the surrounding bush.

As the heat of the afternoon begins to fade, you will head to the riverbanks for a signature sunset mokoro safari. Drifting quietly along the Boteti River in a traditional dugout canoe allows for an intimate perspective of the local wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, and an array of vibrant waterbirds. If river levels are too low, you will instead enjoy a cultural tour of Xobe Village, featuring traditional dances and local craftsmanship.

Your first evening concludes with a delicious, traditionally prepared dinner served around a crackling open fire under a brilliant canopy of stars.

Day 2: Departure to Moremi Game Reserve & Game Drives

After a delicious, cooked breakfast, your guide will ready the vehicle and collect your luggage. The guide will explain the day’s activities to you before departure. After the briefing you will make your way to the Moremi Game Reserve (about 3 to 4 hours’ drive), passing through the captivating Xini Concession which will be setting the stage for your safari adventure with thrilling opportunities of wildlife sightings from the get-go.

Moremi Game Reserve, known as the beating heart of the Okavango Delta, is a world-renowned destination that offers a boundless adventure. The contrasting landscapes of winding waterways and the Mopane Tongue create a magical ambiance that will leave you in awe. The reserve boasts an impressive density and diversity of wildlife, making it a haven for thrill-seekers. With the chance to witness the exhilarating leopard sightings and other rare species, every moment in this reserve is an unforgettable experience.

Some light snacks will be served shortly after entering Moremi. Thereafter you will continue with your exciting adventure while your game ranger uses his exceptional skills to interpret wildlife to you in a unique way.

After a long and usually tiring but always exciting day you will make your way late in the afternoon to your beautifully lantern lit campsite where you will meet the rest of the camping team, often getting the smell of your freshly being prepared traditional dinner as you approach.

Sit around the open fire and absorb the magnificence around you while enjoying a delicious meal and glass of wine while listening to the calls of the night.

Day 3: Full Day Game Drive Moremi Game Reserve

Start your day with an invigorating wake-up call at the break of dawn, accompanied by the delightful sound of birdcalls. As you step out of your tent, be greeted with a freshly brewed cup of tea or coffee, to help you energize for the day ahead. You will then have some time to relax and refresh while your hearty breakfast is being made, an essential and delightful start to a long day of exploration and discovery.

Your adventure continues as you make your way to several places of interest within the Reserve, including major floodplains, waterholes, and breeding areas for large animal herds, allowing you to witness the diverse beauty and wonder of this pristine wilderness first-hand.

Moremi Game Reserve, covering almost a third of the total area of the significant Okavango Delta, is bordered by the Chobe National Park to the north. As a major stronghold for wild dogs, the Reserve boasts a unique and thriving ecosystem where a diverse range of wildlife thrives in peace.

You can expect quality sightings during your visit as the relaxed nature of the animals allows for exceptional viewing opportunities. In addition to the flagship species, the reserve is home to large concentrations of red lechwe, impala, blue wildebeest, and Burchell’s zebra, offering a truly unforgettable wildlife experience.

As the sun sets on a long and exhilarating day, you will make your way to your beautifully lit campsite where the rest of your camping team awaits. The tantalizing aroma of your traditional dinner being freshly prepared will greet you as you approach, igniting your senses and filling you with anticipation for the delicious meal to come. After the day’s adventures, the warm glow of the lanterns and the welcoming atmosphere of the campsite will rejuvenate your spirit and leave you feeling truly content.

Lend an ear to the vibrant sounds of the African wilderness as nocturnal creatures take over the landscape. Traditional stories will be shared by the local Batswana people as you enjoy a mouth-watering dinner around the open fire one last time.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Return to Maun

Greet the new day with the freshness of the crisp morning air and the melodious symphony of the birds. Step out of your tent and be embraced by warm and friendly faces, eagerly awaiting to serve you a piping hot cup of freshly brewed tea or coffee. Allow yourself a moment to soak up the peaceful atmosphere, taking in the natural wonders around you before delighting in a breakfast tailored to your tastes.

As the sun rises and illuminates the magical landscapes of the Moremi Game Reserve – from the majestic Acacia forests and Mopane woodlands to the winding papyrus rivers, expansive floodplains, and tranquil lagoons – you bid them farewell. The memories of your adventures in this natural wonderland will forever be etched in your mind as you make your way back to Maun, with a heart full of gratitude for the unforgettable experiences and the beauty of Africa.

Your ranger will speak to you and determine what you would still like to experience and what animals you would still like to encounter so that he could make a conscious effort in doing so. Any special interests and photographic requests will be catered for.

Shortly after lunch you will slowly be making your way back to Maun, where you will be dropped off (incl. the airport). This will be the end of your tour.
