5-Day Chobe Camping & Victoria Falls Safari Experience

Day 1: Arrival & Sunset Game Drive in Chobe National Park

Your day starts with a transfer from Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) to Chobe National Park (through the Zimbabwe/Botswana Kazungula Border) where your safari adventure begins. The journey will take approximately1 hr 30 minutes – please ensure you have your passports readily available and be prepared for the visa on arrival expenses (usually USD 50.00 per person – to be covered individually).

Alternatively, you can also be collected from Kasane Airport (BBK).

Today, you will venture deep into the Chobe National Park for fascinating game viewing in an open 4×4 safari vehicle. During your game drive, encountering elephants is a mesmerizing certainty, given that Chobe boasts the world’s highest concentration of these captivating giants.

The Chobe River meanders serenely through the Caprivi flood plains, creating a sanctuary for expansive herds of buffalo, hippo, and elephants, accompanied by zebra, wildebeest, and impala. In the intricate dance of nature, the presence of prey guarantees the attendance of cunning predators. Among them, you’ll find species such as lions, hyenas, leopard, and the occasional pack of wild dogs. The Chobe National Park is known for its population of lions that prey on juvenile or sub-adult elephants.

The avian diversity is particularly remarkable within the park, with Chobe hosting an astounding array of bird species, numbering over 460 across the diverse 11,700- square-kilometre terrain. Throughout the game drive, your experienced guide will provide you with valuable insight into the park and its residents. Along the way, your guide will bring you to a stop to enjoy some relaxing sundowners as you stretch your legs within in a safe area.

Thereafter, you will be returned to your Campsite area to relax and refresh before a delicious dinner is served underneath the starlit night sky.

Your day comes to an end as you unwind by the inviting campfire before heading back to your tent for a restful night’s sleep.

Day 2: Morning Chobe Game Drive & Afternoon Chobe River Boat Cruise

This morning you will rise, greeted by a freshly brewed coffee/ tea as your sense awaken to a new day. Allow yourself a moment to soak up the peaceful atmosphere, taking in the natural wonders around you before delighting in a light continental breakfast. You prepare for your morning game drive in Chobe National Park.

During mid-morning, you’ll be brought back to the Campsite for a delectable bush brunch and a chance to unwind, all while taking in the sights of the authentic bushveld and the creatures that inhabit its surroundings.

Around 15:00 PM, after the heat of the day has subsided, you will depart the Campsite for your safari boat cruise on the alluring Chobe River. Encounter the majesty of vast herds of wildlife within the park, as they gracefully converge at the river’s edge and onto its verdant islands, savouring the lush grasses. Here, large concentrations of elephants often cross through the Chobe River, in search of the best grazing areas. Sunlit riverbanks provide a haven for hippos and crocodiles, while the landscape is graced by buffalo, giraffes, and other plains game in need of rehydration.

Thereafter, you will be transferred back to your Campsite to relax and unwind around the campfire as you lend your ear to the unforgettable chimes of nocturnal wildlife.

Day 3: Early Morning Chobe Game Drive & Victoria Falls Transfer

Welcome the dawn with the invigorating touch of the brisk morning breeze and the harmonious serenade of the birds. Start your day with a rejuvenating cup of coffee or tea, followed by a cereal breakfast, before embarking on an exhilarating early morning game drive. The early hours of the day are optimal for encountering the majestic big cats or elusive wild dogs, as they remain active during this time of day.

Around mid-to-late morning, you will be returned to your campsite for a scrumptious bush brunch, followed by a period of relaxation and rejuvenation. Thereafter, you will prepare for a transfer to Victoria Falls for check-in to Shongwe Lookout Lodge (or similar). The journey will take 1 hr 30 minutes to reach your place of accommodation. Please ensure you have your passports readily available and be prepared for the visa on arrival expenses (usually USD 50.00 per person – to be covered individually).

With its captivating interior, delectable cuisine, and breathtaking vistas, this choice offers a wonderful conclusion to your day of adventures. Day 4: Morning Guided Victoria Falls Tour, Afternoon/Evening Game Drive & Bush Barbeque

To kickstart your day, a delicious and satisfying breakfast awaits you this morning. At 08:30 AM, your driver-guide will be ready to pick you up from the lodge reception, marking the beginning of an action-packed guided tour of Victoria Falls.

The experience takes you through parts of the Victoria Falls rainforest to the cliffs opposite the massive cascade. The typical duration of the Victoria Falls guided tour is around 3 hours.

We recommend grabbing an early lunch after your Victoria Falls excursion (for your own account). Complementary transfers for your lunch will be provided. Your guide can assist you to choose the best spots for a delicious meal.

This afternoon, you will embark on an exhilarating afternoon/sunset game drive in a nearby private game reserve. Thereafter, you will relax around an open fire for a mouth-watering bush barbeque, surrounded by the ever-present wildlife chimes that inhabit the Zimbabwean bushveld.

Later in the evening, you will venture out into the bushveld for an evening game drive, with plenty of opportunities to observe the fascinating nocturnal way of life. Along the way, keep your senses alert for elusive predators that stealthily traverse the wild terrain – altogether offering an unforgettable, thrilling experience. As you exit the private reserve, you will be returned to the lodge for a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 5: Morning Relaxation & Departure Transfer

This morning you will rise in a more relaxed fashion, with a final breakfast served before you prepare for a transfer to Victoria Falls Airport (VFA). You will be collected from the reception area of the lodge 2-hours before your flight departure time.
